40 Million+ IP Handsets to be shipped by 2015 - In-Stat research

In-Stat (www.in-stat.com) reports that the IP phone industry will continue to see growth right through 2015 at which time global sales will exceed 40 million handsets. A big driver for this growth is the enterprise space where IP TDM networks are constantly being replaced or upgraded to IP Communications.

The report also says that 

• Corded IP handsets remain the primary choice in the enterprise space 
• Cisco and Avaya are leading the way in the enterprise space
• Consumer adoption of VoIP has been nominal outside the use of Skype and deployments by service providers
• Business WiFi/Cellular Shipments grew 40% but a consumer market has not materialized.

According to Norm Bogen, VP Digital Entertainment at In-Stat, DECT phones dominate the consumer IP phone market.
