Deutsche Telekom picks Celeno solution to support IPTV service
Celeno Communications, a provider of semiconductors for multimedia Wi-Fi home networking applications, has said that Deutsche Telekom (DT) has selected its CL1820 Wi-Fi chip and OptimizAIR technology to enhance the operator’s Speedport W 102 Bridge, which will allow DT to distribute its ‘Entertain’ IPTV service wirelessly throughout the home to consumers in Germany.
The Speedport W 102 Bridge enables customers to stream High-Definition IPTV and time-shifted content recorded on a master DVR wirelessly to multiple set-top boxes anywhere in the home. Celeno’s optimized Wi-Fi technology is a lot better that of conventional Wi-Fi, which is merely designed for internet surfing, said Ulrich Grote, vice president of terminal management at DT’s Fixed Line department, adding: ‘Celeno’s solution not only allows for flawless HD video streaming, it also enables multi-room DVR with the high quality of experience our consumers want.’
Anevia upgrades IPTV Head-Ends with WebTV support
Live TV and video on demand streaming solutions provider Anevia has improved its Flamingo range of IPTV head-end products with WebTV functionality. The Flamingo IPTV head-end units capture live TV and radio content from satellite, cable, DTT and analogue sources before streaming it over IP networks to set-top boxes, PCs, or other IP connected devices.
Polycom aligns with Microsoft Lync for unified communications drive
Polycom and Microsoft have extended their teamwork on unified communications hardware and the Lync communications platform, and will offer Lync on Polycom hardware and services for VoIP handsets, desktop systems and videoconferencing platforms. Among the new products is the CX7000 videoconferencing system that provides access to Lync content sharing and collaboration systems through an interface similar to the Lync desktop software.
